John Kent – Project Director
John, a native of Clonmel, has extensive international construction experience.
This has included working for a number of years on some of the largest construction programs
in the former Soviet Union and Latin America.
He holds a B.A. in Electronic Engineering from
Trinity College, Dublin and an M.B.A. from
Harvard Business School, Massachusetts.
Kate MacCann – Director Of Golf
Kate MacCann graduated from University
College Dublin with a B. Comm. and
subsequently qualified as a Chartered
Accountant with Price Waterhouse in 1989.
Having played golf for Ireland for a number of
years, Kate joined Mount Juliet as Director of
Golf in 1991 where she remained until joining
The Marlbrook in mid 2006. During her time
at Mount Juliet she guided the club from its
early development through to hosting three
Irish Opens (1993-1995) and two World Golf
Championships (2002 & 2004). Kate was also
instrumental in the integration of Fota Island
Golf Resort as part of the Killeen Leisure Group.
Adriaan Bartels – Resort Manager
Adriaan previously managed the renowned
Sheen Falls Lodge in Kenmare before joining
The Marlbrook in the summer of 2006. He has
over 20 years experience of working in some of
the world’s leading five star hotels; these include
The Park Hotel Kenmare, The Shelbourne
Hotel in Dublin and The Royal Scotsman,
Scotland’s version of the Orient Express. He has
received such prestigious awards as the Georgina
Campbell’s Jameson Guide ‘Host of the Year’
(2003) and the Irish Hotel & Catering Institute
‘Hotel Manager of the Year’ (2003). Adriaan,
who was born in Kenya, is a graduate of the
Dublin College of Catering, Trinity College,
Dublin (BSc in Hotel Management) and Cornell
School of Hotel Administration. |
Charlie Kelly – Construction Manager
Charlie has worked extensively in the Irish
construction industry since graduating as a
mechanical engineer from University College
Dublin in 1972. This has included ten years
at the helm of Dornan Engineering, one of
the leading multidiscipline contractors in the
country.
Kieran Quinn – Marketing Manager
Kieran was born into the hotel industry.
He grew up in Louth where his family operated
a series of hotels. He graduated from Dublin
College of Catering and Trinity College with a
B.Sc. in Hotel & Catering Management in 1995
and a year later completed a Higher Diploma
in Marketing Practice from the UCD Michael
Smurfit Graduate School of Business. Kieran’s
previous experience includes Brand Manager
with Dairygold Food Products and various Sales
and general hotel management roles in
the industry.
Frank Clancy – Estate Manager
Frank, a native of Co. Wexford, began working
on the Estate 25 years ago. He has an intimate
knowledge of the Estate and currently oversees
the day to day operations of the farm which
includes a pedigree herd of cattle and hundreds
of acres of rolling fields of corn and barley.
Michael Dempsey – Estate Gardener
Michael is originally from Thomastown, Co.
Kilkenny. Having graduated from Kildalton
Horticultural College in the early 1990’s, he has
carefully tended the gardens and lawns on the
estate in Marlfield ever since.
